How does this collection fit the theme "Science": The various adoptables are helping to test on some new-found anomalies! Chemist Kiros are trying to unlock the secrets of their pink brother, while other, common colored adopts are concerned with the odd neon and dark coloring of their friends... Meanwhile, some curious critters are watching the experiments!

Name of your collection: The Elqui Genome

URL to folder:

How does this collection fit the theme "Science":
Doctor DNA and his lovely assistant RNA are trying to map out the elusive genome of the Equus Elquiius better known as simply Elqui. They've gathered some.. intriguing data thus far. Some of the babies turn pink when born from two different colored parents, some turn a ghostly pale blue, and one of the Maruchi couples even had a baby of another species! Crossbreeding with these new colors gives..unfavorable results. Nevermind that growling in the background. And don't even get them started about the strange birthmark on EC3.2, they can't read it either. Why can't everything just follow Mendeleev's guidelines for once, sheesh!

Name of your collection: Click Critters - Periodic Table

URL to folder:

How does this collection fit the theme "Science":
Nothing says 'science' more than a periodic table of elements. And, unbeknownst to most, click critters has quite an impressive periodic table of adopts.
I've recreated the classic periodic table of elements using adopts which names start with the symbol of each element. For roughly 1/3 of all elements, no adoptable name starts with their symbol. As such, these were left out. At the bottom is a legend, to show which color represents group.

Name of your collection: Advanced Technology

URL to folder:

How does this collection fit the theme "Science": Though technology and science are two different things, they certainly aren't unrelated. I think of technology as a practical application of science, and this folder includes technologies mainly related to formal sciences like computer science and robotics.

For the sake of balance, I decided not to include every robot/droid adoptable. All of the adoptables I included in the folder have computer-related terms in their guide descriptions, such as "byte," "data," and "digital".

Name of your collection: Attack on the Botanarium!

URL to folder:

How does this collection fit the theme "Science": Botany is a branch of science that covers many aspects of plant life. What it does not cover, however, is what goes on in the greenhouse after all the professors and students have gone for the night. Cunning insects and herbivores attack, trying to make the scientists' work their next meal! Luckily, these plants have their own defenses. Will they be victorious? Or will they be lunch?

How does this collection fit the theme "Science":

While science is maily there to help us with our lifes and fight diseases... it sometimes crosses a line that shouldn't be crossed
But in a world, where everything has to be faster, bigger, better and stronger - sanity can turn into insanity
When humans try to play god

What we do to the animals we claim to love with our breeding is not good
Many dogs suffer under illnesses from breeding. Their heart being too big or they can't breath well. Are allergic to food, have skin problems and what not
All for the purpose to create a dog the people want and pay for. May it be a dog that fits in a cup or a dog as big as a calf that looks dangerous

Food also isn't the same as it used to. It has no more taste. But therefore, it is bigger and cheaper!
Most people do not even remember anymore how a real tomato tastes and smells like these days

While science is used to fight diseases, some samples of extinct (or almost gone) diseases (and bacteriums) are stored in the lab freezers
History has showed that those diseases broke free and caused much suffering and deaths

Animal testing is also a topic. Which has to stop

We really should ask ourself if we do more good than bad and if all this is worth making animals suffer. By testing cosmetics and meds on them. Or "form" them they way we want. Faster, bigger, better and stronger isn't the answer to everything

Our world has changed. Sadly, not in a good way...

Name of your collection: Hazard

URL to folder: (WARNING: only shows properly in fixed width)

How does this collection fit the theme "Science":

I've chosen for one of the bad things one can come across when doing science, things scientists must always be on guard for as some products can be harmful at best and fatal at worst when coming in contact with them.

More common hazards include possible explosions, flammable products, toxins and corrosives, which can be dangerous in either solid, liquid or gaseous form, so no factory or laboratory is truly safe.

Especially in the (petro)chemical industry, unintended release of harmful products can be a large risk, due to failing equipment or human error. Proximity of other products can aggravate the situation in the blink of an eye, as the rising temperature and chemical reactions can put unforeseen stress on nearby machinery, causing larger spills that can have an effect on the already present danger.

To represent this I've chosen for adopts that look like they are melting, on fire, poisonous and like chemical sludges.

(Disclaimer: adopts are named after my real-life coworkers at the chemical plant I work at. No coworkers were harmed in the making of this contest entry.)

(Credit for the images goes to my good friend, Dunblane, who whipped them up in record speed at my request)

Name of your collection: Solar Power

URL to folder:

How does this collection fit the theme "Science": One of the coolest, fastest growing, and important fields of research is making sure we have enough energy to power the things we use every day. Solar power is one of the best ways to achieve that goal, since it protects the environment by harnessing the renewable resource of sunlight and cutting down the use of fossil fuels that affects climate change.

Inspired by the Solar Powered Tressue, I wanted to set up a grid that could help run the Crossroads Carnival on the power of bright and sunny adoptables! The top and bottom rows of Tressue adopts help to gather the energy from the solar/sun themed adopts in between.
